History of Gong Fu Teahouse
Lau Yu Fat Tea Shop and Gong Fu Teahouse, gradually, persistently, grew from a forgotten corner stall to a tea house where generations pour their stories.
Retrace History

1961-1971
During Hong Kong’s economically challenging 1960s, Lau Yu Fat (Provisions Shop & Tea Shop) was established in 1961 as a street stall in Wong Tai Sin’s Tung Tau Village. The following year, Typhoon Wanda destroyed the entire stall, prompting the government to relocate the tea business to Tung Tau Village Market.

1972-1984
Lau Yu Fat (Provisions Shop & Tea Shop) relocated to Shop No. 3, Block 15 of Tung Tau Estate—one of its most significant moves. Following the relocation, continued operating both the tea business and the provisions store for over a decade, until the clearance of Tung Tau Estate in 1984.

1985-2002
In 1985, Lau Yu Fat (Provisions Shop & Tea Shop) established itself in the dried goods market of Lok Fu Place. Over the years, it has not only witnessed Hong Kong's economic rise but also forged enduring bonds with countless neighbors and local businesses, firmly putting down roots in the community.
